HB 10-1089

CONCERNING PLACEMENT AFTER A PAROLE REVOCATION OF A PAROLEE WHO

IS A SEXUALLY VIOLENT PREDATOR.

Concerning placement after a parole revocation of a parolee who is a sexually violent predator.

The bill requires that a parolee who is designated by the court as a sexually violent

predator (SVP), and has his or her parole revoked by the State Parole Board, be sent back to prison.  Currently the parole board only has two options when dealing with these SVPs.  They can reinstate their parole (leaving them on the street) or they can send them to a correctional return to custody facilities (CRCF) for up to 180 days.  These facilities are essentially half way houses located in our communities.  As a result of this bill, SVPs have to go back to prison and not to a CRCF.
